Hi,

q1. If the exim ACL is set to reject a score of 15 and also rewrite the subject for a score of 9 to 15 - what purpose is the option (required_score 15) in local.cf for ?

q2. How can I add new rules ?

Do I edit /etc/mail/rulesdujour/my_rules_du_jour ? If so, can I simply add to the TRUSTED_RULESETS= line or is it neccessary to add the information to the "Local SpamAssassin/system Settings" section ?

q3. Do you know of a sample sql file I can import into my bayes mysql database ? I was hoping someobody out there might produce one for the purpose of reaching the minimum required for learning.

Thanks for your time. smile.gif

>> q1. If the exim ACL is set to reject a score of 15 and also rewrite the subject for a score of 9 to 15 - what purpose is the option (required_score 15) in local.cf for ?

It used by Bayesian to learn whether the email should identify as Spam or Ham. If I am not wrong, I set it at 12 not 15.

You can do that if the rules distributed by SARE. If you want to create your own, just place the file in /etc/spamassassin/.

No. It is impossible to import the Bayes data from other servers. It is complicated and hard to explain.

Thanks for your reply.

I want to add two SARE rules. Do I just download the rules to /etc/mail/spamassassin/rulesdujour and add them to "trusted rulesets" or do I need to do more than that ?
4uh
What I'm trying to establish here is the purpose of adding the extra lines into the my rules file ?

############################################
#### Begin Personal Rules File Registry ####
############################################

#### Here are settings for sare_redirect post 3.0.0 version ##### Enable munge to activate ham rules
SARE_REDIRECT_POST300=1102;
CF_URLS[1102]="http://www.rulesemporium.com/rules/72_sare_redirect_post3.0.0.cf"
CF_FILES[1102]="72_sare_redirect_post3.0.0.cf";
CF_NAMES[1102]="SARE Abused Redirect Subject Ruleset for SpamAssassin (post3.0.0)";
PARSE_NEW_VER_SCRIPTS[1102]="${PERL} -ne 'print if /^\s*#.*(vers?|version|rev|revision)[:\.\s]*[0-9]/i ;' | sort | tail -1";
# CF_MUNGE_SCRIPTS[1102]="sed -e s/#+#//g";

ETC ETC

Why are these needed ? If I add more rules - should I add more to this section ?

You said that already. I dont think you understand my question.

In your tutorial - you explained that we must add to this section

############################################
#### Begin Personal Rules File Registry ####
############################################

If I want to add more SARE rules - do I need to extend that section with info on the rules ?

Anybody ?

Is my question not very clear ?
4uh
Can you please tell me why you wont answer my question ?

I am not sure about that. You need to try it. For the recent SARE, most rules are default you just need to make sure the rules are listed in TRUSTED_RULESETS.
