I just updated to version 4 and got this error:
The file rvswrapper NOT exist or NOT executable. TYPE: PEAR DEBUG INFO: CODE: ErrorAlso, it now says my license is for Lite version, but I am licensed for Pro version.
What is up with version 4? Where can I view new features, etc?

I have the same problem, and sitebuilder is broken for clients. I've had to roll back to 3.94 (3.95 was not available) bit it's still broken.

I submitted a ticket and they fixed the problem.
Now, for some bitching about version 4.0:
I have the "Created by" and "Powered by" icon set to "Hide" in my WHM RVSiteBuilder manager, yet when I preview one of my sites, there they are (looking like crap because they are not centered)! And what did you do to the WYSIWYG editor? My page is in a small center window. I can't even view the full page. I have to use vertical and horizontal scroll bars! It looks like there are blank template boxes on the left, right, top and bottom that I can't get rid of.

Submit a ticket. That's what I had to do. I can't say that I'm crazy about the new version, though. I'll play around with it more when I have time, but V4.0 appears to need some work. Can't turn off the built-by and powered-by icons. Editor has side, top and bottom boxes taking up most of the screen, which puts my actual page in a crappy box with scroll bars.

I guess it affects everyone seems like them having everyone making a ticket be a bad idea as a solution. We have a lot of servers with it broken so hopefully they release a fix ASAP that does not require a ticket.

Solution I've received from RVSiteBuilder Support:
QUOTE
1. SSH to the server as root and run this command.
rm -f /var/cpanel/rvglobalsoft/rvsitebuilder/var/INSTALL_COMPLETE.php
rm -f /var/cpanel/rvglobalsoft/rvsitebuilder/rvsitebuilderversion.txt
perl /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/rvsitebuilderinstaller/autoinstaller.cgi
2. Go to root WHM/RVSiteBuilder, it will automatically rebuild the database for you.
Unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

You must to download new installer using following instruction. It still keeps your previous data, configuration and translation (given that you do not edit files directly but edit from RVSiteBuilder Manager).
1. SSH to your cPanel server as root, download the installer using the command below:
cd /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/
rm -rf /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/rvsitebuilderinstaller/
rm -f rvsitebuilderinstaller.tar
wget
http://download.rvglobalsoft.com/rvsitebuilderinstaller.tartar -xvf rvsitebuilderinstaller.tar
chmod 755 addon_rvsitebuilder.cgi
rm -f rvsitebuilderinstaller.tar
2. Open root WHM, at the bottom left menu under Plugins section, you will find RVSiteBuilder Installer menu.
3. Click RVSiteBuilder Installer to begin the installation process.
If it still doesn't work. Please submit support ticket at
http://support.cpanellicense.com.

It si so dificult to fix this issue. The enable option doesn?t work, but I think it could not take so longer than a few hours to fix it.
Or show us a easy way to fix it personally.

I follow the instructions and everything worked just fine, thanks.
Now I have another issue, I am trying to enter into one of my sites and it shows a pop up asking me to backup my project, but there is a bug or something, when I click on YES to backup it doesn't show anything the POP UP disappeared but the backup was not done and I can't edit my website until I get the backup done.
What is going on?
One more thing, why the installation script has created a /HOME/SECURERVSITE in my servers? What is this directory for?

The update to 4.0 breaks Horde as well. It seems that smtp.php is updated by the rvsitebuilderinstaller at the following location: /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/lib/php/Mail/ Users of Horde will see the following error message.
Fatal error: Call to undefined method Net_SMTP::getGreeting() in /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/lib/php/Mail/smtp.php on line 316
This error is a direct result of the RVSiteBuilder upgrade.
Installing Net_SMTP does not resolve the issue. The smtp.php file is incorrect and broken. There are other locations that Mail resides. /usr/lib/php/Mail/ is the correct version that Horde needs. I replaced my broken one from RVSiteBuilder with that one and Horde works fine now.
My question is why did this get updated and what else is now going to be broken that I am unaware of.
Can I safely roll back from 4.0 to 3.94? This has become such a disaster for us that we are now about to loose customers.

Yes, Horde webmail. Interesting that yours is working. Since I can see in the install log on _ALL_ of our servers that the Mail folder was updated. I can even see from the timestamps from when I had to fix the updater that smtp.php was edited at the same time on _ALL_ servers.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Y don?t understand it. This patch is just to hosting providers or is for final users?.
I need a real solution here, I did not want the version, it is not well planed, and is not working well.
NOw I found that the font color palete doesn?t work to.
RVSiteBuilder neither is fixing things, I asked my hostin provider to install the previous version, but have not received a response.
I'm also losing customers here and I have not even requested the change to version 4.
Somebody must be responsable to such error.

That is just RVGlobalSoft covering their butts so you can't sue them if you later discover the backup was no good. I thought, how do I know if the backup is any good? I've had very poor luck restoring from these backups in the past. I just typed "Yes" and proceeded. Guess I can't sue now.

I have used PowerArchiver in the past, but I think you have to buy it now. I believe ZipGenius will work, though. You can download it (and other similar programs) at CNET:

Update on rollback. I tried to rollback to a older version. Completely borked RV even worse than the 4.0 upgrade. Hard to believe it could get worse. Had to go back to 4.0 and deal with angry customers. Now it appears that OS X has massive issues with the newest version of the interface to. Reported issues are for OS X 10.4 and 10.5 . This just gets better and better. Does anyone do testing on this stuff before rolling it out?

You think? Why in the heck is there even a option available to go back to a older version then?
UTF-8 is also causing issues with customers files, which is something else all together. How can software be updated like this, forced on its user base, without going through a serious round of testing? No one can tell me this software was tested correctly. I used to QA, like many other people I am sure, and this was not done on this release.

What update are you referring to, the 4.0 update, or 4.01? I suggest we stop updating RVSiteBuilder until Pairote and his cohorts start updating the change log in a timely manner. For those of you who can't find it (I never can, I had to bookmark it), it can be found here:
http://www.rvsitebuilder.com/index.php/rvs...ilder/changelogOkay, Pairote...what has changed with 4.01? Did you fix any of the issues, such as the ability to turn off those ugly mis-matched Built by and Powered by icons? (hint: try making them both the same size and maybe more of us will use them).
What about the WYSIWYG editor? Can we now expand our pages to full screen when editing them? You must have an incredibly large LCD monitor. Some of us are still using CRTs, so you should keep that in mind when designing the page editing layout.

4.01 fixed WYSIWYG size, powered by icon, backup page in Spanish, and etc. The WYSIWYG screen will be bigger if no side1 and side2 data.
However, we are distribute v4.02. It fixes several of issues especially for the project contains HTML tags on the page name.
Full screen mode is disable, I will reconsider to enable it again later. The problem on the full screen mode is it looks good when editing but looks bad on the real web site due to the size of the editing area is larger than the real one.

Okay, that is much better. My editing page was full screen with none of the annoying boxes on the sides of the editor. I published my site and it looks okay.
One thing I noticed was when I tried my contact form, the "thank you page" was incorrect. Instead of the "thank you for your submission" message, it just opened the same page showing a box with a red x. I edited my form and re-published the site, but it didn't fix anything.

- The backup issue still continues in 4.01 using FireFox, if I use IE it works.
- You need to check why Horde gets messed when any new 4.x version is installed, it corrupts horde.
- Why is there a new directory in /home created by Ver. 4.0? What is this directory for?
When is 4.02 available?

I am certain I do not want to publish it. I know when it is published that what I see will be what I get.
I dont know what version I am on because I do not have any way of knowing. It didn't get the prompt to update to 4.01 . I know I have submitted a ticket and gave all the information and have yet to hear back from them. I would love so some one to look at my site and see what I see. I mean really we are going on 3 days now and it seems like we should be able to bring in more tech people to correct these problems if need be. So maybe some one can guide me to the new 4.01. Brenda,
I know it is the first time that we have seen something like this with RVSB but I am sure that Pairote and his team are working on this very hard. They have already send 4.01 but it is not working as it should be. Pairote has talked about a 4.02 version and I recommend you to wait until that version arrives.

Guys let me explain this. When you go to your cpanel you log in right. Then you go to the words that say RCSitebuilder. When I clicked on it it forced me to update to the 4.0. I simply have pages that are blank now No WYSIWYG they are blank. To preview them , yes the content is there. I cannot edit any of them. There is not content to edit . Yes I have Html. NO WYS. which is why I used the site to begin with.
If I received this error below I received it on RVSB not some strange site or sturpid certificate out there in never land. I post what RV pops up when I looks at my pages that all.
I have sent a ticket I gave my PW and sign in info. Tech support can see for them selves what my problem is.
I have yet to re publish the site because I do not want what I see, which is nothing to be published.
Every thing that is going wrong with my site at this point is RVSB fault not something else.
I cant tell why heck version I.m in. And this is all getting to be BS. they say they are working on it and I have to take their word from the ticket. They are not saying anything about the ticket What info i get I have to get from this forum
My site is useless to me right now. plain and simple.
I am having to go look elsewhere to invest another 7 months of work on a sitebuilder that is more reliable.
I am sorry I sound frustrated but I am, but I'm not looking to take any kind of blame for this or place it any where else other than RSVB.
Shoot they wont even reply to a ticket.
I'm tired and stressed and moving on and I have a son that has 6 sites with RSVB and they are all down, nine included.
So I'm let hanging. So is he. Time to count my losses and get the heck out of it.
Brenda

May 2 2010, 10:35 AM
Brenda,
I feel your frustration as everyone involved is having the same issue.
It is very simple to check what version do you have, if RVSB in WHM is asking you to upgrade to 4.01 above this there is the prior version that your RVSB is.
Another way to check what version you are running, enter into CPANEL and then enter into RVSB, don't open any project, just open RVSB and in your left down corner you will see what version you are running right now.
If it is 4.0 then your WHM is right and you need to upgrade to 4.01. If it is 3.95 left it as it is don't change anything.

Sergio

Ok I have 4.01 Thanks
I know you guys are having the same problems. I just get frustrated when other says it is something other than RVSB when I am not doing anything but site builder. But the 4.01 must have been what I downloaded last night for it to default to it.
So when you guys are saying an improvement I don't understand it because all my pages are just blank? So I can imagine what it was like before.
I really feel it is beyond a point of know return but there's not to much i can do about it. You know we all did a back up before this all started. I wonder if RVSB did a back up on 3.94 and just cant return to that then fix the bugs and work on it and then come back later with it.
Maybe I'm just dum when it comes to this I don't know.

have you tried to restore the backup that you downloaded to your computer?
Sergio
May 2 2010, 11:45 AM
Brenda,
just a word of caution...
if you have not restored the project, don't do it after you have done a new backup from the new 4.0X, if you don't do it chances are that the your project
will not function very well when you restore from the old backup and you can loose what you have now.

- You need to check why Horde gets messed when any new 4.x version is installed, it corrupts horde.
- Why is there a new directory in /home created by Ver. 4.0? What is this directory for?
When is 4.02 available?
Sergio
I'd like to BUMP the above questions.
Backup popup problem still happening - on 4.02 Customer tries to use site builder but has a box telling them they must backup their data for some changes to be made - when they click it - it says "failed".
Customers cant send email in horde - we have to run upcp --force to fix it.
Need some advice on these please.
Ok in my case above, the user was nearly out of disk space so thats why the backup failed. but I need to make some comments about this...
1. RVSitebuilder is a tool for customers who are beginners, they dont know what UTF8 is! Why are you forcing them to make decisions about converting to UTF8? This should all be performed in the background without any customer interaction at all. You make them type the word "yes" into a box as if they understand the implications of the changes - they have no idea.
This is a perfect example of developers not understanding end users.
2. Why didnt you warn us about these changes? I've got a large number of licences - lots of servers and customers to look after. You've stopped my customers from being able to send email via horde, youve taken up alot of my time and caused us to receive customer complaints. Some prior warning would have been appreciated.
This update has been handled very badly. You've forced me to look around for an alternative product.
We've been having similar trouble with these new versions and still, as of 4.02, many problems are still present.
By commenting out the Seagull error handler I have been able to fix (or work around) this error:
Warning: call_user_func(Array) [function.call-user-func]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback in /var/cpanel/rvglobalsoft/rvsitebuilder/lib/SGL/ErrorHandler.php on line 106Granted, I'm not sure what the repercussions are, but as an emergency fix it has allowed customers to now edit their pages (using the colour picker and others that were generating that error)
Make a copy of /var/cpanel/rvglobalsoft/rvsitebuilder/lib/SGL/ErrorHandler.php in case something goes wrong, then open it up. Find the function startHandler with the following code inside:
CODE
call_user_func(array(
&$GLOBALS['_SGL']['ERROR_HANDLER_OBJECT'],
$GLOBALS['_SGL']['ERROR_HANDLER_METHOD']),
$errNo, $errStr, $file, $line, $context
);
I commented it out (by putting a # at the start of the line) and that "fixed" that error. The customer has also been able to successfully publish - but that's only one of many errors that seem to be affecting everyone else.
It's worth noting that if you have auto-update enabled this file will probably be overwritten during your next update cycle. You could either disable auto-update until there's a fully working version released or simply modify this file manually after each update.

Interesting that Horde was working for me until this morning's 4.02 upgrade. Now I get:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method Net_SMTP::getGreeting() in /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/lib/php/Mail/smtp.php on line 316when trying to send or reply to emails in Horde. It gives this error message, but the emails do in fact go through.
One other minor glitch...the contact us form on my site (created in RVSB) still does not take a user to the proper "thank you for your submission" page after they submit a message. It just reloads the contact us page without the form. There is supposed to be a thank you message after a submit. I know because it is the last step in setting up the form.

I'm wondering if part of the backup problem is caused by the fact that it says,
Please click the follow link to download file.
This is one of many, many examples of improper language syntax and poor user interface. RVSB makes a very big deal about how many languages it supports, but its English is usually very poor. What is wrong with the above statement?
First, it should read, "Please click the following link to download the file." Okay, I could live with the second "the" being left out.
Second, when you say "Please click the following link..." that link should not be the instruction itself, it should be a link on a separate line, hence the words "following link"...a link that follows this sentence - not this sentence itself.
I'm just wondering how many users don't realize they are supposed to click:
Please click the follow link to download file.
...to open up the dialog box for saving the actual backup file. It doesn't even look like a hyperlink (not underlined or in a special link color). It is simply bold text. You don't know it is a link unless you happen to hover your mouse over the text. If you want to make it clear to click the instructions themselves, you should say,
"Please CLICK HERE to download the file."
I've seen many examples of this in RVSB's user interface in the past. We've all just grown accustomed to the broken English, but please make sure links are clearly identified that they are links. Make them underlined and in a different color, or something.

There is an error in FireFox when the automatic backup pop up window shows up, it says that the file needs to create a backup file but after clicking NEXT nothing happens. If you do the same in Internet Explorer the backup works, so, it is an error with 4.0X and FireFox.
The error with HORDE in ver 4.02 has disappeared for me but I really can't be sure.

I used FireFox with no issues. And with me, version 4.02 broke Horde (which had been working, at least with 4.0).

No I have not restored the back up. I have left everything along. I also have not published it since the back up because I figure when I do that will be when my site will look totally stupid. I really need to publish it and up date it but that part scares me to death. All my hmtl seems to be there on each source page but nothing on the WYS. That is what seems to be broken and I am not good at editing html and that is why I have to use WYS. My site gets 8-10 1000 hits a month and either I have to build one else where or wait this out, Still nothing from the submitted ticket.
Wonder why they cant just put a new version of 3.94 and just call it 4.02. Wouldn't that work?
